The Medicus Firm Volunteers in the Community
17 May 2010All of us here at The Medicus Firm have tried over the years as a team to give back to the community whenever possible, by giving of our time and resources. Recently, the Dallas team from The Medicus Firm volunteered at a nearby children’s after-school program. We are not sure who had more fun, the kids, or us! See for yourself by checking out the photos of us working with these great kids and staff here. We helped them with their homework and various activities such as puzzles and word games. Then it was play time outside – kickball, basketball, and more! We hope the students had as much fun as we did, and we appreciate the opportunity to help out.
We look forward to participating in future activities with the program, which is affiliated wtih Buckner.org, and also donating various items to the facility.
Our first project for donation is “Fill the Shelf”. Kim Dempster, Director of Human Resources for TMF, donated a (very large) bookshelf and are working on filling it with an assortment of many children’s books for all ages in the program. We will be collecting books through June 4. Children’s books are just one of the many supply needs of the program, and monetary gifts and donations can of course always be put to good use. Additionally, Jim Stone, managing partner, and his wife Phyllis will soon deliver 8 bicycle helmets to the program, Buckner Children & Family Services / Primera Iglesia Bautista Mexicana Collaboration. The Stones are donating the helmets to accompany recently donated bicycles that will be awarded to top students at the program.
If you have any new or gently used children’s books or other items you’ d like us to donate for the kids to use at the after-school program, please email Donna John at djohn@themedicusfirm.com to coordinate a drop-off at one of our offices or at the program office.
