Update on Physician Survey on Health Reform

17 March 2010

Wow – it has been quite a day.  There has been a bit more of an interest in our survey than we would had ever expected, due to the timing of its posting on the Recruiting Physicians Today.  Because of the high volume of inquiries, we would like to address any further questions about how the survey was conducted.

Our survey was emailed to a simple random sample of 2,250 physicians from our database, including primary care physicians, specialists, and various career levels and geographic regions.   We didn’t specifically target any one group or type of physicians, so that we would get as much of a random sample as we could obtain.  The survey was conducted via a professional web-based surveying tool, and the surveys were emailed directly to the physicians’ personal email accounts we have on file.

The key findings for now can be found on our website until we can get the full report back online, hopefully by tomorrow (Thursday March 18), so you’ll be able to review the findings, the sample breakdown by specialty and experience level, and methodology in more detail.

As a physician search firm, we conducted this survey to take the pulse of a group of physicians about their feelings regarding health reform as it relates to their medical practices.  We wished to gauge how the physician candidates, whom we represent, would feel if the comprehensive healthcare reform was passed, and how it may affect their career decisions.  We appreciate the 1,195 physicians who responded and were willing to take the time to share their opinions and perspectives on such an important issue as healthcare reform.

We will post more information as soon as possible and apologize for the delay in responding to any individual calls or emails. Again, due to the sheer volume of inquiries it has been a challenge to get back to everyone and send the information.  Therefore, we will post the survey details online so everyone can access it at their own convenience.

Regards,

The Medicus Firm
